Decrease in Medical Fitness

Pilots are required by the CAA to seek aeromedical advice without undue delay following certain medical events, including significant illness or injury, surgery, hospital admission, starting regular medication or first requiring corrective lenses as outlined in Annex IV (Part MED).

Pilots must not fly if a change in their medical fitness, medication or treatment could affect the safe exercise of their license privileges.

Managing these cases may require referral letters, review of GP/specialist reports, preparation of case reviews for the CAA and updates to fitness status, including the issue of fit or unfit notes.

Additional work will be charged at the applicable hourly rates listed above. Fees charged by specialists or other third parties remain the responsibility of the pilot.
